#19 NETGALLEY READ: FOLLOW ME

📖 BOOK TITLE: FOLLOW ME  📖AUTHOR: ELIZABETH ROSE QUINN  📖 PUB DATE: MAY 6TH 2025  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #138thBookOf2024 Ok, it's time to breathe, actually maybe a breath or two because what did I just read? 🤯🤯 I was expecting a cozy mystery because how can a grown woman of twin boys disappear without no trace? But then the story turned, and I was not expecting this dark tale. I say dark because it was definitely too dark for me—after the murder(s) that took place, I had to stop reading and start doing other things (like scrolling through Facebook) to stop my brain from playing the images/movie-like trance it has conjured. Like this book was crazy, momfluencer kind of crazy. You'll ask how monfluencers and murders relate, and I'll tell you you definitely have to read this book to actually find out the answers. Before diving into this book, know that there are some heavy themes being discussed in this book, which include: drug addiction, postp...

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: TWENTY FOUR SECONDS FROM NOW

📖 BOOK TITLE: TWENTY-FOUR SECONDS FROM NOW  📖AUTHOR: JASON REYNOLDS  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #137thBookOf2024 Neon is about to take the next big step in his relationship with Aria, and that step is being intimate. The novel starts with Neon being holed up in his girlfriend's bathroom before the "big moment." I loved how the novel progresses backwards, taking us twenty-four minutes before, then twenty-four hours, and also twenty-four days before, twenty-four weeks, and twenty-four months (back to the very first time Neon and Aria meet). This is a very unconventional novel for me, and it is so unlike anything I've read. And most importantly, it is told from Neon's POV Black Boys Love too ❤. I know in most black-oriented novels, we have racism, drugs, and the rest, but this novel is about love, and it is focused on love. Another important thing I love is how both Aria's and Neon's parents are fully involved in their lives; you don't se...

#18 NETGALLEY READ: BINGSU FOR TWO

📖BOOK TITLE: BINGSU FOR TWO  📖AUTHOR: SUJIN WITHERSPOON  📖 PUB DATE: JANUARY   14TH 2025 📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #136thBookOf2024 Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for granting my request to read this e-ARC and provide my honest opinions.  River Langston Lee (our MMC) is seventeen years old, and he is rethinking all his life choices, from walking out of a very important exam (meaning he won't be able to attend university) to breaking up with his longtime girlfriend and leaving his co-managerial job at his parents cafe, Cafe Gong. Being a teen comes with a whole lot of different emotions, different fears, and also a lot of I don't know. I love how all the teens in this book were portrayed from the MMC to the FMC and the side characters; the character development is just beautiful. I have always loved to read a romance novel from the MMC's POV, and I need more Recs like these. Love a good young adult romance and found fami...

#17 NETGALLEY READ: SOME LIKE IT SCOT

📖 BOOK TITLE: SOME LIKE IT SCOT  📖AUTHOR: PEPPER BASHAM  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #135thBookOf2024 Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for granting my request to read this e-ARC and provide my honest opinions. It has been long since I've felt all the feels of a romantic swoon, and this book filled my heart with a renewed faith in love and what love can do to a person. I kept wishing for this book not to end for me to continue immersing myself in the richness of the love story between Graeme (I pronounce this as "grim" in my head; I hope that is correct 😂) and Katie. These two give a whole different meaning to love, 🥰🥰 and I love it for them. Katie, the travel writer who does not have roots in any place, meets Graeme, who has a loving family in Mull and is not thinking of going anywhere any time soon. After meeting our two MCs, I thought that maybe this was just going to be a fling, but alas, with these two, the word fling doesn'...

#16 NETGALLEY READ: SOMEONE LIKE YOU

📖 BOOK TITLE: SOMEONE LIKE YOU    📖AUTHOR: SANDY BARKER  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #134thBookOf2024 Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and Sandy Barker for granting my request to read this e-ARC and provide my honest opinions. I would have rated this 3.5 stars, but I rounded it up to 4 stars. The whole transition from friends to lovers took me on a ride, and I really thought that both Raff's and Gaby's HEAs (Happily Ever After) would not happen due to some circumstances on both MCs part. "Someone Like You" is the fourth book in the "Ever After Agency Series," and I read this book as a standalone even without reading the rest in the series. Honestly, I feel that no one can be as dumb and oblivious as Raff. Like, seriously, dude, how can you not know when someone is flirting with you? The whole matchmaker bit got me excited (that's a dream job). Overall, I really enjoyed this story, even if I thought it was way too long and dragging ...

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: NIGERIAN MEN WILL STAIN YOUR WHITE

📖 BOOK TITLE: NIGERIAN MEN WILL STAIN YOUR WHITE  📖AUTHOR: ALEXANDRIA HUMPHREY  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #133rdBookOf2024 So this was a very fun and quick read. Nigerian men will really stain your white 😂. This book felt like gossip being fed directly into my ears, and me being the reader I am, I knew from the beginning something was up with Efua's marriage, from the excessive praise she gave of her marriage and also being the only married friend. I just knew, but I didn't know exactly what it was, so I was patiently waiting for that part of the gist to come. And I was shocked when I found out, like, what the fuck! Who does that to someone? The woes of her remaining friend didn't hit me as much as Efua's 😩🥺. To all the ladies who are with men so disgusting and morally deranged, may better men come your way 🥂🥂. 📖RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: EVERYONE ON THIS TRAIN IS A SUSPECT

📖 BOOK TITLE: EVERYONE ON THIS TRAIN IS A SUSPECT( ERNEST CUNNINGHAM #2) 📖AUTHOR: BENJAMIN STEVENSON  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #132ndBookOf2024 The second book to "Everyone in my family has killed someone." I loved the first book, and I went into this one with the same mindset that I would thoroughly enjoy it, but I didn't really click with it at first; it took time for me to get to enjoy it. There were a lot of characters, so it was hard for me to keep up. It was even hard to keep a list😩, then came the overly descriptive scenes😩. The words in my head were "Ernest, we get it; get to the point! So it is really surprising that Ernest was able to turn the story around; after the 2nd murder, the whole plot came together wonderfully, and damn that ending🤯!! Ernest, it is me and you for the next book in the series 😍 and you are right, sequels are hard!! 📖RATINGS: 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: ○  I don’t just make these things up. People, sort of, have...

A RECAP

Hi booklovers📚😍, Welcome back to weekly special, and we are at chapter 10 😍🤯. In today's segment, I will be giving a recap of all the bookish shenanigans that I have been up to, yeah, right from the very beginning.  Let's get to it:  CHAPTER ONE: What birthed this segment was my desire to do something fun and entirely different from what I was used to   and I was really hoping my readers would enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating each post.  Where everything started 🥰 CHAPTER TWO:   I remember making Chapter 2 like it was yesterday😂. If you want to know about me without reading my about page, I will suggest checking out  Who Am I. CHAPTER THREE:  Tools   I still use till now! CHAPTER FOUR: If I were to retitle this chapter it would be  called  The Venting of a Nigerian Booklover  😂😂 CHAPTER FIVE: Finding time to actually read those books you love can be a struggle and you don't need to feel guilty. Happy Friday, book lovers! ❤. For anyone struggling, know that you're loved, you're not alone, and there's support available.❤️ Let's get to the list!! 1. In The Wild Light by Jeff Zentner BLURB :  A poignant coming-of-age novel about two best friends whose friendship is tested when they get the opportunity to leave their impoverished small town for an elite prep school.  Life in a small Appalachian town is not easy. Cash lost his mother to an opioid addiction and his Papaw is dying slowly from emphysema. Dodging drug dealers and watching out for his best friend, Delaney, is second nature.  He's been spending his summer mowing lawns while she works at Dair...

#18 BOOKSIRENS READ: FORBIDDEN BONDS

📖 BOOK TITLE: FORBIDDEN BONDS  📖AUTHOR: ROSE FRESQUEZ  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #131stBookOf2024   Thank you to Booksirens and Rose Fresquez for granting my request to read this e-ARC and provide my honest opinions. I think the author really wanted to make Fred's and Lucy's relationship feel forbidden enough for us, the readers, to root for them. Think this: the village poor boy who is eighteen and is supposed to get married, whose family believes in polygamy, and whose father has a longstanding feud with the city girl's father; the city kind of rich girl who is eighteen and does not plan on getting married any time soon, strongly believes in monogamy, cannot and will not be a traditional wife, and is aiming to be a career woman and is still in school. So you see what I mean when I say the author really tried to make the love story forbidden; is forbidden even the right word? No, I got the right words, Out of Reach. Fred and Lucy's love story is ou...

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: THE MECHANICS OF YENAGOA

📖 BOOK TITLE: THE MECHANICS OF YENAGOA  📖AUTHOR: MICHAEL AFENFIA  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #130thBookOf2024 Ebi Oh, I know that you don't like to be called a shortened version of your name, Ebinimi, but I'm calling you Ebi just to spite you. What did you take me through, from one trouble to another, and even you yourself, you are not helping matters. Complicating things for yourself in every way possible. Oh, that twist at the end—I wish I could ask the author a question. This book was so fun. Ebi and his household (if I can even call them that) took me on a trip. Characters are so morally gray that you are unable to root for anyone. I love it 😍 📖RATINGS: 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: FORTY WORDS FOR LOVE

📖 BOOK TITLE: FORTY WORDS FOR LOVE  📖AUTHOR: AISHA SAEED  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #129thBookof2024 I was really excited for this book, and now that I have finished reading it, I was really disappointed, but in as much as I didn't love it, it was an okay read. Personally, with the whole Golub tree, Moonlight Bay, Sammy's death, and even Kot's disappearance, there was a lot going on in this book, and introducing a love interest threw the balance off. I felt Yas and Raf needed to come to terms with the amount of change that has happened in their respective towns. So even if Yas and Raf have been friends forever, it still looked to me as if they were rushing into the relationship. Like I said, there was just a lot going on in this book that I just couldn't appreciate the love interest. 📖RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: THE MOST WONDERFUL CRIME OF THE YEAR

📖 BOOK TITLE: THE MOST WONDERFUL CRIME OF THE YEAR 📖AUTHOR: ALLY CARTER  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #128thBookOf2024 There was certainly not a wow factor in this book; I felt disconnected from the story at some point because it felt overly descriptive. The side characters were not engaging enough for me; it just felt like they really didn't care about what happened to their aunt at all, leaving the work for strangers. The romance interest didn't work for me at all. I really, really tried to enjoy this book, but it just wasn't forthcoming.  📖RATINGS: 2 STARS ⭐⭐

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: REMEMBER ME TOMORROW

📖 BOOK TITLE: REMEMBER ME TOMORROW  📖AUTHOR: FARAH HERON 📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #127thBookOf2024 Yes, this book is a little bonkers. This is a very unconventional love story, and you have to really get at it to grasp the story between Jay and Aleeza. You know I love everything time travel/parallel universe-related, and with each fiction book I read about this topic, my mind is blown away every single time. Yes, there's more mystery elements than the rom-com because how can Aleeza be in love with Jay, who is not even in her timeline, talk about a guy who is unavailable? I loved how put together this book was, how the mystery elements worked together; there was no point in this book that was left to assumptions; everything was explained well without being boring and overly descriptive. Overall, I really enjoyed this story, and definitely this will not be my last Farah Heron's book. 📖RATINGS: 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: ♤ Time isn’t linear. There are an infin...

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: THE MARRIAGE SABBATICAL

📖 BOOK TITLE: THE   MARRIAGE SABBATICAL  📖AUTHOR: LIAN DOLAN  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #126thBookOf2024 The reason I read books is to see lives from other perspectives, though the characters may be fictional; a living person wrote it, so with that said, I wanted to see what "The Marriage Sabbatical" was all about. If you could take a break from your marriage, would you do it? If you could partake in the 500-mile rule, is it something you and your spouse will be willing to take on? I enjoyed the story a bit but I didn't love it. I am happy Jason and Nicole did what they thought was best for them and their marriage. The entire theme in this story for me is to do what is best for you and your marriage. Overall, this was an okay read. 📖RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐

#14 NETGALLEY READ: SIXTEEN MINUTES

📖 BOOK TITLE: SIXTEEN MINUTES  📖AUTHOR: K.J. REILLY  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #125thBookOf2024 Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for granting my request to read this E-ARC and provide my honest opinions. Ok....., I am going to take a deep breath because this book took me on a thrilling ride 😁. As usual, I didn't read the blurb before going in, but after reading the prologue, I had to go back to actually read the blurb, and I will be honest, the blurb of this book did no justice to the information contained in this book 🤯🤯. This book is actually tempting me to do a deep dive on all things multiverses, luminal spaces, time travel, and parallel universes because what is all this madness 🤯. It is really amazing what the author did with this book, like this is a YA novel that focuses on these themes, and there are also some heavy ones like death and drug abuse, and the author still manages to find a way to introduce a love interest 😍 Hone...

#13 NETGALLEY READ: BUSYBODIES COLLECTION

📖 BOOK TITLE:  BUSYBODIES COLLECTION  📖AUTHORS:  ELLE COSIMANO, JESSE Q. SUTANTO, EMMA ROSENBLUM, NITA PROSE, KELLYE GARRETT, ALICIA THOMPSON  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #124thBookOf2024 Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for granting my request to read this e-ARC and provide my honest opinions. Staged ⭐⭐⭐: I really enjoyed this short story. Lyda and her friend, the amateur sleuths 😄, thanks to their fast thinking and ability to see beyond the obvious, solved Sawyer's murder case. I guess I'm an amateur sleuth as well as I cracked the case before them ha😄😄. The Reunion Dinner ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Everything Jesse writes I will read; even as a short story, this was amazing. The humor! The twist! And that ending!!! Crime of Fashion ⭐⭐: I didn't really like this as much as I loved the others. The Nosy Neighbors ⭐⭐⭐⭐: I didn't see that twist at the end coming, and I thought Marge was the bad person all along 😈 One Lucky Subscriber ⭐⭐⭐: This was an okay...

#17 BOOKSIRENS READ: YOU'RE ENOUGH, JUNE NELSON

📖 BOOK TITLE: YOU'RE ENOUGH, JUNE NELSON  📖AUTHOR: JESSI HANSEN  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #123rdBookOf2024 Thank you to Booksirens and the author for granting my request to read this e-ARC for free and provide my honest opinions. Seeing as I did not read the blurb before jumping into this one, I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that time travel was in this book. June is on her way to her book launch; her boyfriend just dumped her, and a big-time book blogger just called her new book 'mediocre'. June is scared; she has always been scared, but it seems like life has given her a chance to retrace her steps to see life from her teenage perspective. Honestly, in terms of love interest, I didn't think that June and Patrick could still work; in fact, I stopped rooting for them at some point, but everybody deserves a second chance. Everybody deserves someone that will tell them that they're enough. You Are Enough! 📖RATINGS: 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: ♤...

#16 BOOKSIRENS READ: THE MOBILE REHAB

📖 BOOK TITLE: THE MOBILE REHAB  📖AUTHOR: WINNIE D PAGORA 📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #122ndBookOf2024 Thank you to Booksirens and the author for granting my request to read this e-ARC for free and provide my honest opinions. This book definitely has a good premise—think this, four different teenagers come to a foreign country without their mobile devices to partake in the'so-called Mobile Rehab'. I was really excited for it, but I just did not connect to it as much as I would have loved to. 📖RATINGS: 2 STARS ⭐⭐

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: IT'S A DATE AGAIN

📖 BOOK TITLE: IT'S A DATE (AGAIN)  📖AUTHOR: JENEVA ROSE  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #121stBookOf2024 Having read one of Jeneva's books, I wanted to read another one, and I picked 'It's a Date (Again).' The whole amnesia thing and the three guys to pick from sound intriguing, and I was prepared to enjoy this ride of a book. We follow Peyton Sanders and her friends Robbie and Maya as they go on a journey to find the love that Peyton once lost. I don't know if it was intended, but in terms of love interest, I had already known who she was in love with right from the beginning, 😑😩 and then I was not intrigued at all. Honestly, am I the only one who thinks that it was too early for Maya to be making jokes about her friend's situation in the hospital? Like girl😐 Overall, I kind of enjoyed this book.  📖RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: □ You can’t see what’s right in front of you because you’re looking through it. □ If someone lies about the little th...

#15 BOOKSIRENS READ: YAHIMBA

📖 BOOK TITLE: YAHIMBA ( LAGOS ELITE CLUB 1) 📖AUTHOR: O.L.OBONNA  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #120thBookOf2024 Thank you to Booksirens and the author for granting my request to read this e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinions. Forced proximity! Fake Dating! Brother's bestfriend! Virgin FMC! Light on spice 🌶 and thick on plot 😩! Guy falls first! Wow, this book took me on a ride 😘😍😍. I really enjoyed the love story between Yahimba and Eyinmofe, these two🥺🥺. I wanted to shake some sense into Yahimba—why stress this guy so much and why always compare him to Bem😩. Eyinmofe is the real deal, and you know it. Despite all the things Bem, Mama Nande, and her half-sister Wandoo have done to Yahimba, I am so glad she put it all behind her and did not let it hold her down. I can't wait for the next book in the series ❤😍. 📖RATINGS: 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: BREADCRUMBS

📖 BOOK TITLE: BREADCRUMBS  📖AUTHOR: ALICIA WILDER 📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #119thBookOf2024 This is a very fast, easy, and light read (as it is a novella). We follow Max (our FMC) and Micah (our MMC) as they try to sort out their individual baggages. In as much as I am not a fan of one-night stands, I enjoyed the easy banter between our MCs. Overall, I didn't quite connect to both Max and Micah and even the side characters. Honestly, I don't think Max and Micah should be together😑. 📖RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: ●  Don’t hold your now hostage to what you hope for the future. ●  First, I need to figure out the life I want to live, then consider trying to live it with someone else.
