SOMETHING FUN I THINK๐Ÿ˜•?

So I wanted to do something fun apart from my usual  BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN  and I hope my readers will enjoy it as well.   When I started reviewing books, I didn't like nonfiction or self-help at all; it didn't give me the escape I desired, so I decided to start reading fiction. I did not only start reading fiction; I told myself I would not really read popular fiction books. I wanted to help authors in a way, but authors that really needed it (does this make sense because it doesn't quite make sense to me๐Ÿ˜‚).   Anyway, I started reading non-popular books, and I have found amazing authors and stories that will stay with me for life. Stories that have changed my view of life in several ways.   Will I continue reading non-popular books? Of Course  Does that mean I will not read popular books? No, all books are the same, but I will continue to focus on non-popular books and books from less-known publishers.    QUESTION: Can you recommend some of your favori

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: VALLEY VERIFIED

๐Ÿ“– BOOK TITLE:   VALLEY VERIFIED  ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR: KYLA ZHAO  ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #LetterV Of My Alphabet Challenge #SeventeethBookOf2024  The cover of this book is so beautiful๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜. Fashion meets Tech in this inspiring novel. Zoe decided to leave her job in fashion writing behind and take up a new one in marketing a fashion app, where she has no experience at all. She decides she is going to put her all into it and make the app a success.  Zoe begins to have imposter syndrome, struggling to decide whether she made the right decision by leaving her whole life behind just to take up this new job. I loved Zoe and her whole character, the way she brings out the best in people, and how her charisma is infectious (if I can use that word ๐Ÿ˜‚). I liked Bill at first, but it turns out he was a shitty person. All in all, the book is nice—the kind of book you read to have butterflies in your stomach and the kind of book to pursue dreams. Here's to everyone pursuing dreams: YOUR D

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: PEOPLE PERSON

๐Ÿ“–BOOK TITLE: PEOPLE PERSON  ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR: CANDICE CARTY-WILLIAMS  ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #LetterP Of My Alphabet Challenge #EighteenthBookOf2024   My second time reading Candice's work: the first being Queenie and now People Person ๐Ÿ˜ I am really excited that I got the chance to read People Person. So back to the review: 5 people bound by blood from one parental side 5 different people with different backgrounds 5 people with a non-present father And 5 people with blood on their hands literally ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ‘ Only a few years ago, their father 'Cyril' brought them to a park to get to know themselves and not to fuck each other in the future because they were siblings (Cyril's words, not mine ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝ‍♀️). When Dimple calls Nikisha to come help her, she has no idea that her elder sister would call her remaining half siblings to drop what they were doing to come help her move a "dead body." The Penningtons had partially decided to stick with each other through

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: CONFESSIONS OF AN ALLEGED GOOD GIRL

๐Ÿ“– BOOK TITLE: CONFESSIONS OF AN ALLEGED GOOD GIRL  ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR: JOYA GOFFNEY  ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #TwentiethBookOf2024   I loved how realistic this book is, and I think that every child between the ages of 13 and 18 should read this book. The author did fantastic work here, and I would like to drop my two cents to my fellow Nigerians:  In a Nigerian family, the word 'sex' is so rarely spoken and used that the kids start to fear it in a way and start to become curious about what it is. Social media is so loose these days that it is not even fit for a child. Parents,  please talk to your child about sex and sexual education at a very early age. You can even start with Every Girl Has A Vagina and Every Boy Has A Penis. Some parents are even embarrassed to talk to their kids about these organs, but it is very necessary and essential to speak to them before their schoolmates or friends put ideas into their heads that aren't healthy. Speak up and tell them wh

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: ZAINAB TAKES NEWYORK

๐Ÿ“–BOOK TITLE:   ZAINAB TAKES NEWYORK  ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR: AYESHA HARRUNA ATTAH ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #SixteenthBookOf2024 #LetterZ Of My Alphabet Challenge  When I started Zainab Takes Newyork, I wanted something fun and exciting. Did this book meet my expectations? Frankly No!Was I disappointed?  Yes, I was.  Inasmuch as I loved the grandma's commentary and all, I found Zainab very childish.Personally, this book is just like a coming-of-age novel . ๐Ÿ“–RATINGS:   3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐ ๐Ÿ“–QUOTES: □ Life is too short to do what everyone expects of you. □ Food was sculpture. It was art. □ When you’re in love, you get precise about dates and things like that, -

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY

๐Ÿ“– BOOK TITLE: THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY  ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR: MATT HAIG  ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #NineteenthBookOf2024 #RbookclubPick I loved how the midnight library operates and how it is different for each individual. Nora wanted to kill herself, and she was brought into the midnight library to find herself. At first, I thought she was supposed to pick any life that she wanted and stay in it, but that is not the point of the library; the point is for you to see that your real life is as important as those other lives. And I am so glad that Nora realized how important her life is!! ๐Ÿ“–RATINGS: 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ๐Ÿ“–QUOTES:   □ Would you have done anything different, if you had the chance to undo your regrets?’ □ Go confidently in the direction of your dream. □ It’s never too late to pursue a dream sadness is intrinsically part of the fabric of happiness. You can’t have one without the other. □ Never underestimate the big importance of small things. □ You don’t have to understand life. Yo

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: BLACK CANDLE WOMEN

๐Ÿ“– BOOK TITLE:  BLACK CANDLE WOMEN  ๐Ÿ“– AUTHOR: DIANE MARIE BROWN  ๐Ÿ“– THOUGHTS&OPINIONS : #FifteenthBookOf2024    Honestly, I was intrigued by the cover. I was really curious about what the Montrose women were up to. But the book didn't meet my expectations at all; I didn't like the characters, I didn't get the story, and I couldn't understand how the title of the book related to the women's story.  The book wasn't just for me. ๐Ÿ“– RATINGS: ⭐⭐ (2 STARS)

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: DARK MATTER

๐Ÿ“– BOOK TITLE: DARK MATTER  ๐Ÿ“– AUTHOR: BLAKE CROUCH  ๐Ÿ“– THOUGHTS&OPINIONS :  #LetterD of My Alphabet Challenge #FourteenthBookOf2024   So this novel followed the story of Jason Densen. Jason is a scientist and has been trying to put a macro object in superposition; in other words, Jason was trying to figure out if we can access other timelines other than our own.  But that dream was cut short when he decided to settle down, have a family, and be responsible. He left his passion for scientific research in order to have a family, which is pretty cool if you ask me ๐Ÿ’•. So it starts getting interesting when Jason1 gets kidnapped ๐Ÿ˜ฎ mysterious, right? I am not going to say who kidnapped him, but if you have read the book, I am guessing you were as shocked as me when you found out. It turns out there are multiple versions of Jasons, and it turned bloody real quick. This book was nothing I expected. I was terrified to say the truth. I heard that there is a movie adaptation ๐Ÿ˜

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: EVERYTHING IS NOT ENOUGH

๐Ÿ“–BOOK TITLE:  EVERYTHING IS NOT ENOUGH  ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR:  LOLร รKรNMรDร‰ ร…KERSTRร–M ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS: #ThirteenthBookOf2024 #LetterE of my alphabet challenge   Ok, let me take a few moments to breathe ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. I have no words to describe how this book made me feel and the rollercoaster it took me through.  I am very happy for Kemi; finally you got the life you dreamed of.  Muna, you are a shining light, and you didn't deserve all the pain you went through. Brittany, you did right by Jonny.  I will be on the lookout for Lola's work!! ๐Ÿ“–RATINGS: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 stars)

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: IN EVERY MIRROR SHE'S BLACK

๐Ÿ“– BOOK TITLE:  IN EVERY MIRROR SHE'S BLACK  ๐Ÿ“– AUTHOR:  LOLA AKINMADE AKERSTROM ๐Ÿ“– THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:   #TwelfthBookOf2024   To say I love this book would be an understatement! I loved every single thing about the book, and I wouldn't want to change a thing at all.  I am going to start with a character I disliked to an extent: Brittany-Rae. So, Brittany, what made you fall for Johnny? His inability to lie to your face or what? Or you were just looking for an excuse to leave Jamal because you couldn't get past the fact that he lied to you. You upended your life for a man you met for a few months, got married, and moved to a new country for someone you weren't sure about, solely based on the fact that he couldn't lie to you๐Ÿ˜‘ I also disliked Kemi to an extent; the biggest marketing firm recruited you personally, and you accepted just because you allowed your twin sister to make the decision for you. Twin telepathy, my foot! You cheated; fucking own up

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN:BLACK GIRLS MUST HAVE IT ALL

BOOK TITLE:   BLACK GIRLS MUST HAVE IT ALL  AUTHOR: JAYNE ALLEN  THOUGHTS&OPINIONS: #EleventhBookOf2024  After reading the first two books in the trilogy, this book felt basic compared to those two.  For Tabby, it took her a longer time to finally decide what she wanted for herself and her child. Glad Marc is not longer in the story ๐Ÿ˜‚ RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐ QUOTES: “You don’t have to be good at everything,Just be good at the things that matter most." "Only a fool would think they’d gotten anywhere on their own"
