#14 BOOKSIRENS READ: MY YEAR OF CASUAL ACQUAINTANCES

📖BOOK TITLE: MY YEAR OF CASUAL ACQUAINTANCES

📖AUTHOR: RUTH F STEVENS

📖BLURB: When Mar Meyer's husband divorces her for another woman, she reacts by abandoning everything in her past: her home, her friends, even her name. Though it's not easy to start over, Mar is young-looking, fit, and ready for new adventures-as long as she can keep things casual.

With each passing month, Mar goes from one acquaintance to the next. Among them: a fellow gym member down on her luck, a flirty hip-hop instructor, a bossy but comical consultant, a kindly older gentleman... and Charlie, a handsome best-selling novelist who wants more from Mar than she's able to give.

She learns something new from each encounter. But can she change enough to open herself up to happiness and true connection?

Thank you to Booksirens, the publisher, and the author for providing me with an advance review copy of 'My Year of Casual Acquaintances' and providing my honest opinions.

In this book, we follow Margaret, who insists on everyone calling her "Mar" after her divorce and separation from the man she once loved (I think) Henry. Henry and Margaret have been married for twenty-eight years (long right!) And the divorce gave her an opportunity to start again, no longer as Margaret but as Mar!

Mar is fifty but still very young in looks and at heart—she is embracing all the new changes with stride. Mar joins Seaside Fitness, should I say, in a bid to acquire 'new acquaintances'—not friends acquaintances, but even this becomes complicated when she meets Charlie and her feelings become muddled.

Some scenes made me chuckle a bit, and I enjoyed seeing how Mar grew her circle of 'friends' and even became an avid reader!

Overall, this was an okay read for me, even though I did not enjoy the cliffhanger at the end. I heard there's a sequel. I hope it is about Mar and Charlie. Ha!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: REMEMBER ME TOMORROW

📖 BOOK TITLE: REMEMBER ME TOMORROW  📖AUTHOR: FARAH HERON 📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #127thBookOf2024 Yes, this book is a little bonkers. This is a very unconventional love story, and you have to really get at it to grasp the story between Jay and Aleeza. You know I love everything time travel/parallel universe-related, and with each fiction book I read about this topic, my mind is blown away every single time. Yes, there's more mystery elements than the rom-com because how can Aleeza be in love with Jay, who is not even in her timeline, talk about a guy who is unavailable? I loved how put together this book was, how the mystery elements worked together; there was no point in this book that was left to assumptions; everything was explained well without being boring and overly descriptive. Overall, I really enjoyed this story, and definitely this will not be my last Farah Heron's book. 📖RATINGS: 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: ♤ Time isn’t linear. There are an infin...

#16 NETGALLEY READ: SOMEONE LIKE YOU

📖 BOOK TITLE: SOMEONE LIKE YOU    📖AUTHOR: SANDY BARKER  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #134thBookOf2024 Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and Sandy Barker for granting my request to read this e-ARC and provide my honest opinions. I would have rated this 3.5 stars, but I rounded it up to 4 stars. The whole transition from friends to lovers took me on a ride, and I really thought that both Raff's and Gaby's HEAs (Happily Ever After) would not happen due to some circumstances on both MCs part. "Someone Like You" is the fourth book in the "Ever After Agency Series," and I read this book as a standalone even without reading the rest in the series. Honestly, I feel that no one can be as dumb and oblivious as Raff. Like, seriously, dude, how can you not know when someone is flirting with you? The whole matchmaker bit got me excited (that's a dream job). Overall, I really enjoyed this story, even if I thought it was way too long and dragging ...
