I feel that this book should be between 3 and 4 stars, maybe 3.5-ish, but I love whole numbers๐.
I can empathize with Temi regarding the taunts she got over her 'small yansh' and the constant comparisons to her elder sister. I also loved the way the author talked about each character: Temi is complaining about her 'small yansh', and Ladun is complaining too. What a life! ๐๐. For Nigerian parents, Tito and Hassana's parenting style is to be talked about, especially Tito, who is such a wonderful father ๐๐.The girls are so free to talk to him about everything. Another thing I loved about this book was the family dynamics displayed. Despite being an open family, there were still some secrets among them. It is funny how Hassana wants Ladun to forgive her, but she can't find a place in her heart to forgive Jummai.
For a book I loved so many things about, it still felt incomplete per se, and I have some questions that need answers ๐ซ.
Damilare Kuku, with the banging titles, I can't wait to see what your next book will be about ๐.
๐QUOTES:
♧we must all be stronger than the words people throw at us; otherwise, we never move forward.
♧Silence is powerful, especially when the person you are sparring with is screaming.
♧People have forgotten how to be kind with their words.Sometimes they joke, but they do not know that it lands in a place of hurt.
This last quote resonates a lot with me, sometimes we joke but to the other person it is not a joke
