For me, I enjoyed Esi's point of view, how she saw things, and how easily the book flowed. But I didn't like Esi as a character; in fact, I don't think I like any of the characters😑. The book starts with Esi as a young girl of eleven who has not been taught anything about puberty and the rest, despite living in a family of girls (grown-up ladies).
