BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: ONE OF THE GIRLS

📖BOOK TITLE: ONE OF THE GIRLS

📖AUTHOR: LUCY CLARKE

📖GENRE: MYSTERY&THRILLER

📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:
#LetterO of My Alphabet Challenge #SixthBookOf2024 #JanuaryBookclubPick

Six girls, one murderer—who did it and why?
I loved the way the girls stories intertwined with each other, how the story kept me guessing, and how each of the girls had to come through for Lexi. It was like Lexi was a force to be reckoned with! None of them could refuse her.

When your best friend decides to throw your hen party, you can't imagine that something will go wrong.
I didn't like how the book ended; with all the buildup of secrets, I expected the ending to be more intense. It felt more like women's fiction than a mystery or thriller.

📖QUOTES:
"The bravest thing any of us can do is ask for help.”

''You can’t please everyone"

"The biochemistry of our bodies changes when we spend time with good friends."

“I know something about those choices. The ones we make for other people.”

"To overcome fear, one has to face it."

"All that’s important is what you feel"

"I’m starting to wonder if the things I’m afraid of are the very things I should be doing.”

“Isn’t it strange how sometimes the worst things that happen
to us end up being the best?”

“Maybe we all need to stop trying to meet everyone else’s expectations—and just meet our own.”

"he made the ordinary feel extraordinary"

"Life was fragile and fleeting and mostly out of your control, and all you could do was surround yourself with good people, do your best."

"Life. What a big fucking mystery"

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: REMEMBER ME TOMORROW

📖 BOOK TITLE: REMEMBER ME TOMORROW  📖AUTHOR: FARAH HERON 📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #127thBookOf2024 Yes, this book is a little bonkers. This is a very unconventional love story, and you have to really get at it to grasp the story between Jay and Aleeza. You know I love everything time travel/parallel universe-related, and with each fiction book I read about this topic, my mind is blown away every single time. Yes, there's more mystery elements than the rom-com because how can Aleeza be in love with Jay, who is not even in her timeline, talk about a guy who is unavailable? I loved how put together this book was, how the mystery elements worked together; there was no point in this book that was left to assumptions; everything was explained well without being boring and overly descriptive. Overall, I really enjoyed this story, and definitely this will not be my last Farah Heron's book. 📖RATINGS: 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: ♤ Time isn’t linear. There are an infin...

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: MIDNIGHTS WITH YOU

📖BOOK TITLE: MIDNIGHTS WITH YOU  📖AUTHOR:  CLARE OSONGCO 📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #151stBookOf2024 Midnights With You is incredibly painful and sad—I say painful because it shines a light on the amount of harm that painful parent-child relationships cause on children and young adults. Upon seeing the cover, I was expecting a young adult romance, and I didn't even read the synopsis, so I was so shocked to discover the content. It was extremely painful to read and witness what was happening to Deedee, who felt so lost, so unloved, carrying all the shame and guilt all for no reason. Before reading, please ensure you read the trigger warnings, and I am going to add it to my review: This story contains on-page depictions of a parent being emotionally abusive, slapping, depression, grief, and racism. It also mentions the off-page death of a parent and off-page domestic violence and contains a brief scene of on-page sexual harassment. This is the kind of story...
