BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: IKENGA

πŸ“–BOOK TITLE: IKENGA

πŸ“–AUTHOR: NNEDI OKORAFOR

πŸ“–GENRE: FANTASY||AFRICAN LITERATURE

πŸ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:
#LetterI of my alphabet challenge #ThirdBookOf2024
So I decided to dive into african literature with IKENGA! In this book we follow the story of Nnamdi aged 12 whose father is the chief of police. An honest man who wanted to get rid of all the criminals in Kaleria, but that dream got cut short when someone murdered him. As it should be Nnamdi and his mom were disheartened at the sudden death of the man of the house.

On the one year anniversary of his father's death, he brought Nnamdi a gift( The Ikenga) which had the ability to give him supernatural strength and other abilities when appropriately used. The Ikenga had to be controlled and giving a young boy that much responsibility is not acceptable to me at all. Nnamdi had to keep secrets from his mom and friends.Nnamdi was young and a lot of thing could have happened if the ikenga was not controlled

I am really glad at the end Nnamdi at least had control of the IKENGA

πŸ“–RATINGS: 4 OUT OF 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐

FROM ONE TO FIVE

Another Saturday, another bookish rantπŸ˜‚πŸ˜Š. Welcome to another chapter of weekly special book lovers πŸ“šπŸ˜. The star rating system: a simple way to sum up our thoughts on a book, or an outdated habit that's due for a change? The other day I saw a post on Instagram about whether book reviewers still made use of "stars" when reviewing books, and I was compelled to make this a topic on my book segment! So the question is, 'Do reviewers and generally book lovers still make use of stars when reviewing books?' As a book reviewer myself, I love making use of stars, and I will never stop making use of them except a better system comes up for scaling books πŸ˜‚. It is also true that I correct my ratings accordingly. What do I mean by this? This is what I mean: when rating books, I go by my mood and excitement after completion of the book, and I immediately rate books. I may look back on my emotions after reading a particular book and correct my ratings. I recently...
