BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: THE BABY IS MINE

📖 BOOK TITLE: THE BABY IS MINE  📖AUTHOR: OYINKAN BRAITHWAITE  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #FourtyeighthBookOf2024 Wow, I love this quick read. I guess I will be on the lookout for more quick reads in between my normal TBR.  Short chapters, fast-paced 😍 everything I want in a book  📖RATINGS: 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: JUST ANOTHER MISSING PERSON

📖 BOOK TITLE: JUST ANOTHER MISSING PERSON  📖AUTHOR: GILLIAN MCALLISTER  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #FortySeventhBookOf2024  I first read McAllister's work early this year which is Wrong Place Wrong Time and I loved the book and it centered around the theme of motherhood and family.  So, in Just Another Missing Person, I was originally confused because it took some time to understand the characters because there were so many of them. This novel followed the same premise as Wrong Place, Wrong Time, and I liked it but not so much. It took me a bit to get into the plot; I'll admit that it was slow at first, but I needed to know what was going on. And as I got into the plot, it became too slow. 📖RATINGS: 3 STARS⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: ◇ ABC: Assume nothing, Believe nothing, Challenge everything

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: COUNTERFEIT

📖 BOOK TITLE: COUNTERFEIT  📖AUTHOR:  KIRSTIN CHEN  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS: #FourtysixthBookOf2024 I got into "Counterfeit" because of its vibrant cover. I didn't even read the blurb😂 but unfortunately, I didn't quite connect to the story, perhaps because of my novelty to the luxury bag industry. Gosh, I don't even know what a Birkin looks like 🤧. Forgive my novelty, but it is what it is. So my novelty toward luxury bag brands affected my view of this book. I couldn't understand the concept behind the counterfeit luxury bag industry. I also didn't understand why Ava felt the need to join Winnie in her scheme. She obviously has a husband she loves (I think), a child she adores, but whines a lot (and when I mean a lot,I mean a lot). Just my theory here: "People who have done everything by the rule tend to want to deviate a bit to see how things work out." 📖RATINGS:  2 STARS ⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: ○ There is no shame in good, honest w

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: ON ROTATION

📖 BOOK TITLE: ON ROTATION  📖AUTHOR: SHIRLENE OBUOBI  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #FourtyfifthBookOf2024 Angie has the discipline I so desire and I guess if she can do it why can't I!! Yes this is my Review 😌😌 📖RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: □ Don’t think too hard about things. Just live in the moment . □ The secret to long-lasting love is simple. You wake up. You roll over and look at your wife. And you say to yourself, today, I will choose you. I will love you. And you keep doing that every single day until you die.

THESE TOOLS OR NOT

In this chapter of Weekly Special, I am going to be talking about tools that are helpful on my book blogging journey. I know I am not a big book reviewer per se, but there are tools I think everybody should use at least once! And with no further ado, here are the tools in no particular order at all: 1. GOODREADS : Don't you just love Goodreads ? I love everything about the site (I use the website, not the app), from the simplicity to the easy accessibility to no ads😌! If I am not using Goodreads, I don't know what I will use. 2. BOOKMORY : What's there not to love about this app? I can record my notes, ratings, and everything I need about books in this app, and guess what? It is free! 3. QUILLBOT : If I don't add Quillbot , I don't think it is a list yet. The human eye and brain cannot catch as many grammatical errors as you would like them to, but QuillBot will. You want to catch grammatical errors, paraphrase, and check for plagiarism, and the rest q

📚 QUARTERLY BOOK CHECK IN 📚

I am extremely proud of myself for reading 45 books between January and April (remember, this is just a quarterly check-in). I'm not sure how many books I'll read before the end of the year, but all of these stories and the lessons I've learnt from them will never leave me. Here's to all the strong ladies and men in these stories who have motivated me to be better 🍻🍻. Getting through the world one book at a time. Here's a list of the novels I read from January to April 📚📖. You can reach me on: Facebook:  Rayo Reads Instagram:  Rayo_reads Email:  Rayo Reads Twitter:  Queen Rayo

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN:THE MARRIAGE CLASS

📖 BOOK TITLE: THE MARRIAGE CLASS  📖AUTHOR: ADESUWA O'MAN NWOKEDI 📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #FourtyFourthBookOf2024 I don't know why the topic of marriage is so intriguing that I'll always read or talk about it. My Facebook feed is filled with topics about marriages, so when I saw this book, I knew right there that I'll read it. So this book is about ten different couples with different love dynamics, stories, and personalities, all attending a wedding class in Lagos State, Nigeria. We see how different decisions affect and influence their views about each other. Now I'll be starting with Abi&Raymond- my least favorite couple out of the ten, but anyway, Abi doesn't like the easy love Raymond shows her, so we see how she self-sabotages her new-found love with her ex. It is very funny how she sees all the red flags in her ex, and subconsciously she wants him back because, according to her, "Raymond love is too easy." Ngozi&Zulu- the

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: A BROKEN PEOPLE'S PLAYLIST

📖 BOOK TITLE: A BROKEN PEOPLE'S PLAYLIST  📖AUTHOR: CHIMEKA GARRICKS 📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #FortythirdBookOf2024   With collection of short stories, we do not know what to expect and that is what makes the stories special. A common theme plays through the stories and that is broken people who are attempting to finding redemption -at least.  At least now I get the hype about this book now. 📖RATINGS: 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: □ They will ask me when I first knew I was in love with you. I will sigh and say I don’t know.  It happened in fragments, piece by piece, separate moments over the years. Moments – that’s how I remember it.  □ even though we weren’t meant to be, you were always home to me.

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: THE LIST

📖 BOOK TITLE: THE LIST 📖AUTHOR: YOMI ADEGOKE  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #FortysecondBookOf2024 It's insane how social media can either make or break a person's life.  Trolls wtf.  There could have been a better way to do this. I'm not sure what I'd do if I were in Ola's situation--one thing she didn't manage well is that she should have known that Michael was also trying to figure out what was going on.  And while this left Ola in a difficult situation because she is a journalist and the list is exactly the type of story she is supposed to be breaking, her lover is now on it. Michael should have been truthful from the beginning, and the finale left me unsatisfied.  Las Las nah man dey do man! 📖RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: □ once you fed something to the internet it was never truly yours again.

#8 BOOKSIRENS READ: FAMILY FRIENDS

📖 BOOK TITLE: FAMILY FRIENDS  📖AUTHOR: JANET KOOPS  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:    #FortyfirstBookOf2024 One of my favorite aspects of this book is its short chapters and engaging characters. 😍 We meet Jenna, a single mother whose parents kicked her out of their home at a young age 😥. Often, the ones who hurt us the most are those who are supposed to be our blood. I mean, how can your parents do that to you, without even bothering to call or anything? I liked how Jenna matured and realized that her parents would not come around. She made something for both herself and her daughter. She made friends and found love 😍. What is better than that? 🤷🏽‍♀️ 📖RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: THE FRAUD SQUAD

📖 BOOK TITLE: THE FRAUD SQUAD  📖AUTHOR: KYLA ZHAO  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #FortiethBookOf2024 So I decided to read  "THE FRAUD SQUAD" since I had read "VALLEY VERIFIED" and enjoyed it. To say I was terribly unhappy with "THE FRAUD SQUAD" is an understatement.  I believe my expectations for the book were so high that I was disappointed. I can't really identify what I didn't like about this novel, but one thing I do know is that the entire fraud squad concept was completely unnecessary. Making Sam a socialite will not change Tim's life and will just benefit Sam (I am not sure if anyone understands my point here 😑). Because at the end, Sam became known just because of her new found socialite lifestyle . And please let no one tell me that you now better understand the Singapore community because of this book. 📖RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: □ “The background you’re born into doesn’t define who you can be” □ Sometimes we read thin

#7 BOOKSIRENS READ: RULES OF DISENGAGEMENT

📖 BOOK TITLE:   RULES OF DISENGAGEMENT  📖AUTHOR:   JANET KOOPS  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #ThirtyninthBookOf2024 Book 2 of The Lost And Found Family Series and wow, it is nice, and the amazing thing about these books is that they are novellas. I think this is my favorite out of the books in this series. These books can be read independently. Stephanie has always had rules to keep her life in check, but what will happen when those rules ruin the life that she loves? Stephanie will have to step up, find out who she is, and stop being the entitled bitch she is. But will she have to lose her newfound love just for it? 📖RATINGS:  4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📖QUOTES: □ you only get out of life what you put into it

#6 BOOKSIRENS READ: SIX WEEKS WITH YOU

📖 BOOK TITLE:  SIX WEEKS WITH YOU (LOST AND FOUND FAMILY #1) 📖AUTHOR: JANET KOOPS  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #ThirtyeighthBookOf2024    Book one in the Lost And Found Family Series; I believe this book may be read independently of Book Zero(0). Having an addictive mother and being in a psychologically harmful relationship will shape your perspective on life, particularly love. Vicki wanted to remain alone and avoid all forms of social engagement, but when she met Daniel, she immediately wanted to chat to him all day and night. But what do you do when your relationship has a timeline? Will six weeks be enough? 📖RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐

#5 BOOKSIRENS READ: HOMING INSTINCT

📖 BOOK TITLE: HOMING INSTINCT  📖AUTHOR: JANET KOOPS  📖THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #ThirtyseventhBookOf2024 I read the prequel of The Lost And Found Family series: How Darcy and Francois Met. 😍 In this story, we meet Darcy, who is a Fight or Flight risk because she has spent her entire life on the move, and Francois, a pleasant, compassionate, and handsome guy.  Darcy and Francois are ideal for one other, but will Darcy fight for what she wants? Sometimes home isn't a place! 📖RATINGS:  3 Stars ⭐⭐⭐
