BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: MURDER LEADS TO MARRIAGE

๐Ÿ“– BOOK TITLE: MURDER LEADS TO MARRIAGE  ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR: SHANNON PEEPLES ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #152ndBookof2024 Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this e-ARC and provide my honest opinions. First of all, there were so many characters that I couldn't even keep track, and there were so many side stories that I thought weren't necessary to the plot. I wanted a mystery, but I got some kind of romance for the Hurley family. The synopsis got me so hyped up, and I was so excited for the drama that comes with mystery/thriller. Unfortunately, I didn't love this story, so much dragging dialogue from unnecessary characters that when the main mystery started, which is the kidnapping of one of the Hurley sisters, something felt amiss; as quickly as the kidnap scene started, it ended almost as quickly. I felt I missed a chapter or something like that. Some things didn't add up, which was a major dealbreaker for me, and I felt as though the genre and synops...

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: MIDNIGHTS WITH YOU

๐Ÿ“–BOOK TITLE: MIDNIGHTS WITH YOU  ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR:  CLARE OSONGCO ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #151stBookOf2024 Midnights With You is incredibly painful and sad—I say painful because it shines a light on the amount of harm that painful parent-child relationships cause on children and young adults. Upon seeing the cover, I was expecting a young adult romance, and I didn't even read the synopsis, so I was so shocked to discover the content. It was extremely painful to read and witness what was happening to Deedee, who felt so lost, so unloved, carrying all the shame and guilt all for no reason. Before reading, please ensure you read the trigger warnings, and I am going to add it to my review: This story contains on-page depictions of a parent being emotionally abusive, slapping, depression, grief, and racism. It also mentions the off-page death of a parent and off-page domestic violence and contains a brief scene of on-page sexual harassment. This is the kind of story...

#19 BOOKSIRENS READ: THE UNEXPECTED GUESTS

๐Ÿ“–BOOK TITLE: THE UNEXPECTED GUESTS (BOOK TWO) ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR: RUTH F STEVENS  ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #150thBookOf2024 Thank you, Booksirens and the author, for granting my request to read this e-ARC and provide my honest opinions. Having read the first book, "My Year of Casual Acquaintances," I decided to request the sequel, thinking it will be way better than the first. Honestly, I was bored, but I still felt as though I needed to finish the book; there were too many side background stories that I felt were not necessary to the plot. I loved Charlie & Margaret and the evolution of their relationship. Thank you once again for the opportunity to read this e-ARC.  ๐Ÿ“–RATINGS: 3 STARS ⭐⭐⭐ Check out my review of the first book in the series: MY YEAR OF CASUAL ACQUAINTANCES

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: ONE CHRISTMAS WITH YOU

๐Ÿ“– BOOK TITLE: ONE CHRISTMAS WITH YOU  ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR: MARI SUGGS  ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #149thBookOf2024 The Christmas season is upon us, and I think this is a good Christmas pick. Light on spice but big on drama ๐Ÿ˜…. What would you do when you spend Christmas with your best friend's family and you find out the stranger who you had a one-night stand with is her brother? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Trevor was a whole vibe, and I totally love him ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿคญ. This would have been easy had it been Eloise was not in a relationship with Dr. A$$hole and if she had not discovered that said doctor was cheating on her and who, by the way, she is still with. ๐Ÿ˜‘ All through this book, I kept screaming, Eloise!! Because she was driving me crazy with her decisions concerning her relationship and her parents. Oh, thank God for Trevor. ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ˜ This book will take you back and forth because there is a lot of drama in this book, some that will make you roll your eyes and some that is so unnecessary. ๐Ÿ˜…. Re...

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: LEASE ON LOVE

๐Ÿ“– BOOK TITLE: LEASE ON LOVE ๐Ÿ“–AUTHOR: FALON BALLARD  ๐Ÿ“–THOUGHTS&OPINIONS:  #148thBookOf2024 Lease on Love is the perfect found family trope and finding friends in unexpected places, though I didn't quite connect to the love story between Sadie and Jack. They make quite a pair with the "opposites attract" trope. I felt the love story was not properly built/developed. Imagine this girl gets laid off from her job, starts thinking of downsizing to a lesser-paying apartment, calls her buddies to a happy hour, and while being drunk, stumbles on a roommate-finding app and stumbles on Jack's profile ๐Ÿ˜… and, fixes a time for a "date" to meetthe boy.. Boy meets girl, clears the confusion up, offers his house for a little amount, and accepts girl as his roommate instantly. To me it felt as if Jack needed companionship, and the moment he stumbled on Sadie... he found what he was looking for. Sadie's transition from "This guy is okay, duh ๐Ÿ™...

BOOK REVIEW RUNDOWN: KISSES, CODES AND CONSPIRACIES

๐Ÿ“– BOOK TITLE: KISSES, CODES AND CONSPIRACIES  ๐Ÿ“– AUTHOR : ABIGAIL HING WEN  ๐Ÿ“– THOUGHTS&OPINIONS :  #147thBookOf2024 Kisses, Codes, and Conspiracies is one novel that I should have definitely loved! The drama, the plot, and maybe a love triangle? But unfortunately I couldn't connect to this story. This is a YA novel, and the shit that went down in this novel is way out of league for a couple of teenagers and a five-year-old (forgive me for my language)! So each time I read, I would reason that this is so unlike any YA 'mystery' novel I've read, and what even made me so uneasy was stringing a 5-year-old along for all the mishaps that happened! Overall I didn't really enjoy what went down in this novel and the romance between Tan and Winter.  ๐Ÿ“– RATINGS : 2 STARS ⭐⭐
